Multi-brand online store

BUSINESS-RELATED CHALLENGE
NewU, beauty retail chain of Dabur group, wanted to create an online store and expand its customer base beyond key metro cities. This online multi-brand store required extensive cataloging of items, as well options for browsers to compare and view product pictures, as well as promotions running from time to time. Apart from that, NewU wanted suitable integration with the existing customer loyalty program and enable customers to redeem their points earned.
THE SOLUTION
Netcomm made a ‘shop by category’ and ‘shop by brand’ option so that browsers could search products faster. Apart from that, an online shopping cart with payment gateway, as well as gifting options were added to this site. Netcomm’s solution has also enabled the client’s back-end office to easily track orders, inventory and dispatch status.

“The SME Segment is Growing Steadily”

However, Indian SMEs lack considerably in this space. In an interaction with SMEntreprenur, Sonali Chowdhry, Director-Marketing, Netcomm Labs, talks about the new initiative being taken by her venture to empower the SME sector in the IT Space.

Although large corporations have brought out programmes to equip SMEs with IT Infrastructure, the rate of adoption is still low. What according to you is the reason behind it? Is it the mindset or affordability?

The mindset that the proposed IT infrastructure is an expensive investment makes it a nottleneck for SMEs. While there are loan schemes being offered by banks but they too are not attractive enough for SMEs to make a bid of large scale infrastructure changes.

Do you offer any special service empowering Indian SMEs in the IT Space?

In the e-commerce services space, we have launched packages that can make SMEs create web-stores in a cost-effective manner, thereby giving an extension to their brick-and-mortar business.

Your area of work faces major competitors? What are the policies that you offer to attract customers?

Good work gets us good referrals, and this is how we increase our client-base without investing in advertising and promotions.

What has been your growth rate? How do you plan to expand your business?

We have been growing consistently at about 30-40 per cent in our reach and customer-base. We want to target the SME segment with our new web services because this segment is growing steadily despite economic turmoil.
